Statement:
Being interested in photographs that had undertones of societal ills or stereotypes along with images showing the decay of the modern built environment I started to create images that dealt with similar issues about 5 years ago. In my somewhat conceptural photographs I intend to provoke viewers to think about the impact the many inventions of humans have had on their cultural and physical environment.
Process:
As of 2006 I began to work heavily in digital capture and output. Creating pigment prints and capturing digitally has now become my main process. Over the years I have created a lot of work using more traditional photographic processes. Shooting either transparency or black and white/color negatives in 35mm, 120 and 4x5 film I worked with the various monochrome printing processes including gelatin silver, cyanotype, van dyke brown, kallitype and ziatype. I still very much enjoy the tactile feel of those processes. Recently I have combined the hand made tactile nature of traditional monochrome printing process into the digital realm by binding books of digital prints.
